Dr. John Romig Johnson, Psychotherapist and Jungian Analyst
After a career of many years in New York City as a psychotherapist, teacher, and supervisor. Dr. Johnson moved to Charleston. is a senior member of the faculty of the C.G. Jung Institute in New York and a supervising psychologist for the training program. I have been in the private practice of Jungian psychoanalysis in Manhattan since July of 1977.
He is a professional member of the International Association of Analytical Psychologists, and the New York Association for Analytical Psychology and a Diplomate Psychoanalyst in the National Accreditation Association and the American Examining Board of Psychoanalysis. He is also a Diplomate Pastoral Psychotherapist in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors.
He is a graduate of the C.G. Jung Institute in Zurich, Switzerland; a PhD (with Distinction) in Psychiatry and Religion from the Union Theological Seminary in New York City; an M.Div.(with Honors) from The General Theological Seminary in New York City; and a Magna cum Laude B.A. from Furman University.
He has served as a tenured professor of Pastoral Theology at two seminaries as well as an adjunct at 4 other seminaries and universities; pastor of several churches, and author of a number of articles and reviews on marriage and family issues, physical disability, and pastoral care concerns.
